Hej!
LannyLei here! An Indonesian-Swedish who married my university friend David from Iceland. Together we have tw
o sons Óliver and Everette at their best age. We speak 4 languages at home, mainly Swedish. I’ve created a monster husband who would choose my food over restaurants. From an Icelandic who couldn’t even eat 2 sushi, no chille nor spices, he is now worse spice eater than I am. Not to mention my sons, who sometimes woke up in the morning and ask if we could eat Rendang for lunch!!
I moved to Sweden approximately 14 years ago for studying. If there are things that I wish I could bring from my hometown to Sweden were the street food(vendors) and all those amazingly great restaurants. I remember Mum packed few spices and delicates which was eaten in a glance of an eye. Darn! As you all know, being a student means living on a(tight) budget. Buying wasn’t really an alternative. Not only because of that limitation in my wallet, but I was living in an island(still am btw), where there were not too many alternatives! Living in this rainiest town in Sweden and from the Indonesian 28-32degrees to minus climate.. I gotta have food in my tummy..I have to survive the Swedish climate, otherwise I’ll go nuts ha ha.. Luckily cooking has always been my passion since I was a little girl. Most of the reason is coz I always hungry and waiting for someone else to Cook for you can be irritating.
My friends at the university envied my food and often asked for recipes! I kept telling them that cooking my own food is my way to survive Sweden. That is how I got the name for this blogg 😉
You know, my kitchen is always busy runnin’ and being a wife and a mother has forced me to push myself over the limit to learn more of cooking. But I’m far from perfect and I wouldn’t call myself an expert chef! But cooking with my whole heart and soul is what I call something big! ”applaud!”
I try as hard as possible to stay away from semi-finished food and thus, I often create things from scratch! If I could grew my own veggies and farm my own cows and chickens, I probably would do that(oh wait, I’ve done that too!!) :)) I guess that is my way to know precisely what I put into my family’s stomach.
Occassionally I Cook for events/venues, restaurants, charities. Sveriges Radio has also been in my house yay!!.
Då så my friends, I hope you will enjoy my site, and feel free to have me contacted.
Much love and Terimakasih!
